Rent Your DVR?
listening("Ship In A Bottle","Bright Eyes"); ?>You know, I thought about writing a post a little bit ago, but closed the window when I realized I didn't have anything to right about. But you know what, "god" has a funny way of amusing me at times when I least expect it.
Here I am, minding my own business, reading about that dog that swalled a 13-inch serated knife, when Kenny raps on our door and says, "Kyle... you have a visitor." In walks this guy that is totally normal by all appearances. Middle to upper 60's, gray hair, orange flanel shirt (tucked in jeans). Nothing to look over my monitor for. Then he speaks... and I see it. Teeth. Or rather, the lack thereof. So he's got 6 teeth (being generous). Fine. I'm sure whatever he's about to say is totally going to be worth it.
Kyle: "Yes."
Man: "OK."
The man then proceeds to attempt to lean against the back of the couch in our room. A noble goal. Trouble is, he's approximately 4-5 feet away from the couch when he does this. He doesn't even exclaim when he realizes this, and then falls... not onto the ground... but into an open box of t-shirts. So... imagine most of the rest of this conversation occuring between Kyle and a man with six teeth sitting in a cardboard box.
Man: "I... I went to Rose back in the 50's..."
Kyle: "OK."
Man: "And I've been around since... and I know homecoming is comin' up..."
Kyle: "..."
Man: "And I've always liked the guys from your fraternity... I wasn't no fraternity... but I like you guys... and I was wonderin' if I could put a thank you note up somewhere in this house"
Kyle: "A thank you note?"
Man: "Yeah... I put in some papers for a patent 5 years ago and some of your computery guys here really helped me out with that..."
Kyle: "Oh... OK..."
Man: "So..." Gets up "I'll have that letter by for you some time."
Kyle: *sniff* "Oh god... OK."
Man: "Righty thank ya." Exits
Kyle: "That guy was fucking hammered."
In other news, I probably really bombed a test today. The estimated average for said test is going to be about a 45%, which I feel confident I can top by at least 5%. The quarter was going so well, mark-wise, until this point. But all must things must come to an end.
Shannon was able to make her way out here this weekend which was a welcome surprise. We caught a Rose Football game, saw that "Lord of War" Nicolas Cage movie, and eat at Ichiban (Japanese Steakhouse). Overall, best weekend I've had since I've been back. Tim and I are returning to the motherland this weekend so that he might attend the Homecoming dance with the lovely miss Mara.
In sort of nerdier news, I found this article on Engadget about Rent My DVR. Apparently there's some sort of legal loophole that you can ask a friend to record a TV show you miss for you. On the internet, everyone is your friend, so if you ask someone to record your show for you, they will, and you can download it from them later. Supposedly the system is all setup to work with no trouble, and just 0.20 Euro's per download. I guess that's a quarter. To have the show just as soon as it's over (with commercials). I'm giving it the old test-drive tonight with House because I will be out bowling. If it works, I very well might make a mess in my pants.
I itch. Everywhere. And I don't know why.
That's all folks.
I'm so lonely for her
Rent my DVR? Totally working. The website operates with Euros instead of real money, but they give you 5EU to start with at 0.2E per download. I'm like 75% of the way done with House from last night and a quarter of the way done with Arrested Development from Monday. I imagine since they are DVR'ed there will be commercials still... but that's nothing me and Pinnacle 9 won't settle real quick-like. I understand I could just BitTorrent these things, but I just told Rent My DVR to record the rest of the season of House so I never have to even think of it again. Sliiiiiick.
I have to agree with you......last weekend was definitely one of the better ones i've had in a while. I can't wait to see you this weekend babe. Love you
Shannon, you said the same thing about the weekend you visited me. We both know that it was the best sex either of us has ever had, (we would have woken the cat) sorry dan, this just seemed like the best way to tell you.
Holy shit.
This episode of House is in HDTV.
Dan, uhm, Luke tells you that Shannon's cheating on you with him and all you can comment on is that House is in HDTV? You ARE a geek. And that's why we love you!
Well Luke, Dan took the news better than I thought he was going to. I guess now is a good time to tell him that we've been seeing each other for quite a while now since he's so happy about House. ;-)
Also this might be the best time to let you know that I've been sleeping with your parents. You know, in the platonic sense.
Update on the crazy dude: turns out he used to be a CS professor at Rose from back in the day. Retirement (read: forced retirement) had not been kind to him.
