Deflation

So my prolonged absense from the internet scene is once again not the result of me having too much to do to punch out the occasional 300 word symposium on my life. But rather, I have had little interesting to say. That is, until Friday morning.

My Analog Electronics class has never been anything short of thrilling, really. The professor, on one occassion, directed class wearing a Bugs Bunny vest and used a plast light-sabre as a pointer. Friday though, was the insight into his personal life I was not ready to take.

We had just gotten our test back from last Monday (I don't want to talk about it) and after lecture he gave us what might be considered the most fucked up pep talks of all time.

Prof: "OK, so I know not everyone is excited about the results of that last test. I bet you're feeling a bit 'deflated', so I have some news for you. The other day, I turned 40. So I went to the doctor for my yearly physical. Everything checked out pretty good, but he gave me some medication for 'deflation.' So what I've got here is a Viagra pen. I'm gonna pass it around. When you click the end of it, the tip always comes up... but it's out of ink, so nothing comes out. Think about it. Here."
I don't know what that was supposed to do to my day... but I felt like I needed to share that with you.

Friday night, we had the Pike Scavenger Hunt. I've probably reported on it the last couple of years, but let me repeat. It's just a big-ass scavenger hunt with some weird crap on it. Some weird crap that was on the list (or things that people returned that qualified for points are as follows:

  • team member must eat a whole kiwi in one bite
  • white trash
  • white trash (in person)
  • a urinal cake (I got this one... from a KFC)
  • Ben Folds Five sheet music (not from internet)
  • team must enact a fight scene to the tune of classical music (team's choice)
  • black Jesus action figure
  • some chick's panty drawer... panties and condoms included
It was a pretty decent time and I think the freshmen that came out enjoyed it too.

Tonight (Saturday) was a benefit concert we held for the victims of Katrina. Apparently one of the churches around here actually send people down south with truck's of shit and are rebuilding houses/lives for tw or three families. The cost-benefit analysis of the whole Pike concert theme really needs to be worked out better, but that didn't stop the music from being pretty decent. The first band pretty much did a bunch of covers and they were actually kind of hilarious. It was just two guys with guitars but they were all right. The next band sounded like Pearl Jam... with a fiddle player. The did some Bob Seger/Metallica stuff, some Collective Soul, and some Pearl Jam as well as original stuff. I cut out a few minutes early to go see "Serenity" with some of the guys. It was actually quite good. Turns out the movie is based off of the ex-TV show "Firefly". It has the exact same cast that follows a similar, self-contained story line. The show was cancelled before they actually did as many episodes as they were signed on to do, so who knows what happened there.

Tomorrow, I'm mowing some more lawn. I did most of the lawn yesterday so tomorrow I get to do the rest. I've got just a little bit of homework due Wednesday before I leave, and a quick presentation on Monday. We also have a group project for Graphics due the day we get back from break... and the team hasn't exactly met for that yet. I hope we actually hunker down to tap some of that shit before break, because I don't want to have to think about it after I leave.

OK. People who wanted a post got one, and more than they bargained for to boot. I'm going to go pass out now so I can be semi-productive tomorrow. That is to say, awake before noon.

Happy Birthday, Shannon. You survived being a teenage girl. Love you.

I swear to god I'm not an addict but I'm still at it... dag-nabbit, I'm pillmatic
