Word Vomit

I ache. I probably say this every year at about this time, but you've probably forgotten. We had Ditch on Friday night which means, in laymans terms, that I was hunted across Terre Haute by freshmen. Long story short, Hassler and I trekked a total of about 7 miles over the course of 4 hours finally ending back up at the house around midnight. The last 3 miles of our journey took us not to civilization, but to the woods. I assure you, we did not go there to live deliberately. There's a running path that leads most of the way across TH, behind Rose, and right to Pike's front doorstep. Well, we couldn't walk on the trail because we could get caught. So what did we do? We travelled parallel with the trail, 50 yards away, over hill and brook, through thorns and thicketts, through marshes and fields, and I swear to god I saw a sasquatch. It was torture.

Possibly more tortuous, however, is our next story assignment for Creative Writing. This is in bold to make sure you're reading it. It was hard enough coming up with a premise for the first one. I have to do that again now. Once I've got something I like, I can write just fine. But I have no starting point. That is for you to decide! Pick the topic for Dan's next great adventure! Seriously though. I want a list of ideas by the end of the day tomorrow. Make it snappy. I want to downplay dialogue on this one. Give me something I can sink my dick teeth into. Chop chop.

That's all for now. Think.

A Wall St business-like-person acts busy by day, as though he's on top of the world, but ends up at home, watching episodes of Seinfeld by himself every night. Slowly but surely, he grows out a curly hairdo, makes random, jerky motions, and calls himself 'Cosmo'

I obviously have too much time on my hands and have come up with several ideas. Doubtful that any of them well work, but here goes nothing. And I'm trying for the little dialogue angle.

1) The internal monologue of a a four year old planning to kill his baby sibling because s/he's getting all of the attention.

2) The story of how one person single-handedly blew up the Nazarene Church (may want to avoid if you're worried about legal trouble).

3) A story told by an object present during an important or ordinary. I'd pick something like Kennedy's tie during the Cuban Missile crisis. Obviously you'd come up with something funnier.

4) Well, pornography's not know for having much dialogue, and you could probably call it art.

Easy one: The childhood of Walker, Texas Ranger

I love you for the Thoreau reference. Really.

As for story ideas:

An old man is alone in the world and faces a difficult journey (through nature, to the store, to the bathroom, somewhere, anywhere) and faces his inner doubts and demons and his failing physical body while trying to complete his journey.

Two rough, young cowboys watch sheep on a desolate Wyoming mountain side and inexplicably fall in love. Oh, wait...

A young man prepares to head to the hospital to visit a loved one who is dying and reflects on his memories of the loved one while getting dressed. Or, a young man reflects on a lost love as he prepares to go to her wedding. Either way, the story ends when he either decides to leave his apt./house or, maybe, not go at all.

A young couple sit in their living room and each do separate, mundane tasks, talking about nothing, each knowing that their relationship is over, but neither one wants to be the one to end it.

Six yuppie urbanites sit around a coffee shop and talk about their lives. Hilarity ensues...

A middle-aged woman awakes in the middle of the night after a dream has shown her the secrets to the universe and life. The story is not what about the secrets, but instead about what she does with the knowledge. Who would she tell? What would she do? And would anyone really take her seriously?

A young child (boy or girl) is in a wheelchair or bed, paralyzed, unable to communicate with anyone. He/she has an active mind and creates superhero adventures, even though he/she never leaves the room.

A young, hot bride is left for dead at the altar and spends years in a coma. When she awakens, she vows revenge on her former lover and boss and his collection of skilled assassins. Think samurai with a western twist.

I've got more if you need them, but hopefully something posted here by someone will strike your fancy. Good luck!

The Walden was just for you, sweet-cheeks.

Tree, I want you to write me some stories I can adapted into movie scripts, seriously. Those would all be fun and intresting to turn into shorts or perhaps feature films later on down the road (that samurai western sounds great). And god knows I don't do anything around here besides make student movies. and play counterstrike.

As for story ideas...

A young man stands, tearful yet resolute, in front of the bathroom mirror. He falls against the wall, and slowly slumps to the floor. He is covered in blood, his own blood, from jagged cuts in his forearms. He awaits the inevitable, and imagines the events that led to this moment.

Kinda morbid, but interesting if the protagonist dies, especially if he suddenly realizes it was a mistake. Thats all I got.

You could write a story about a guy strugling to find a story topic for some lame ass creative writing class. Upon his strugle he slowly comes to the realization that he is not creative at all. Soon his noncreativity leads him to suicide by shooting himself in the face. Which, incidentially, is not creative at all...

Homan, I'm going to wipe my ass with your pillow. And then shoot myself in the face on your bed. Creative?

And then Walker enters the room and gives you a roundhouse to the face. Why? Because you haven't penned his early childhood yet.
