I Want To Be Buried In Your Backyard
listening("I Want To Be Buried In Your Backyard","Nightmare of You"); ?>OK, this is a semi-regular update. It's less than a week, and that should be good enough for you. Where's your life story?
This quarter is going to be punishment from god. Three lab courses, and the continuation of Senior Design. Lord, how I wish I could be done with that class. We're coming up on like 6 weeks of radio-silence from our client in Indy and I have all but given up hope on her. I'm just pushing this project forward as best I can, and if it doesn't meet her invisible specifications, fuck it.
It's only day three of week one and I am already getting my material mixed up for my classes. Program this, develop that, holy shit. Each one has yet another programming language or set of concepts I pretty much need to learn from scratch. It's going to be wholly different from the easy-going atmosphere of last quarter. Lots of work. Lots of hell.
I need to go to the registrar tomorrow and find out when I am graduating. The Assitant Registrar sent me an email yesterday asking me if I would be walking with the class of '06 in the spring. I hadn't realized that was actually an option for me. So, might be getting me one of those rob and hate ensembles a lot sooner than I thought. Creepy. We'll see.
Still waiting on some kind of call/letter from Lutron. Maybe it'll be good news. Maybe it'll be better news.
This weekend my plans consist of homework, "MST3K: The Movie" and "Capote". That's about it. I've got a lot of books for my classes now and I'm telling myself I'm going to actually read a few of them. Five or six damn books in all across three classes. The numbers just don't add up. In addition, I've been reading "Watchmen" by Alan Moore and I must say I enjoy it. It's a bit of an oldy, but this is the same guy who did "V for Vendetta" and "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". Bother were comics before they were movies. Watchmen was written in like the 80's I guess. I've heard this Moore fellow is batshit fucking loco. I'd like to meet him.
One of the brothers' girlfriends happens to be a big music nut and has informed me of some concerts in April I am considering. Taking Back Sunday in Indy of the 15th of April, and Jack's Mannequin at DePauw on the 5th. Not sure how to get tix to JM, but man am I jones'ing to go to that show. TBS would be easy to get tickets for, but i'm only partly interested in that show. I mean, I'd go just to get a concert fix anymore.
That's all the news fit to shit. Until next time.
Nightmare of You Dan? I am EXTREMELY proud of that.
I try, I try.
You're reading Watchmen? Wow. I am feeling proud right now. I gave that trade paperback to Ben a while ago. It is one of the seminal works of the 80's. And yeah, Alan Moore is crazy, but man, can he write a good story with layers and layers of goodness. I remember waiting impatiently for each issue to come out back when I was...well, in high school, I guess (it came out in '86 - '87, right?). Damn you for calling it an "oldie". Enjoy it. It changed the face of comics forever.
It really was good. I enjoyed all of the little side-things happening with the main story that just paralleled every little thing.
IMDB has Watchmen listed as a project in progress. No cast listing or anything. But still. Excited? I'm excited.
